What Do Your Teeth Say About You?

First impressions are everything! Others’ views of us don’t determine who we are, but they do have possible implications. Studies have found that people with straighter teeth are perceived as more successful, smarter, and having more dates. “When looking at images, Americans perceive those with straight teeth to be 45 percent more likely than those with crooked teeth to get a job when competing with someone who has a similar skill set and experience.” They are also seen as 58 percent more likely to be successful and wealthy (The Dental Assistant 46).

When we look good, we feel good. Having an attractive smile is something that is important to many of us. In fact, “close to three in five (57 percent) Americans would rather have a nice smile than clear skin. What’s more, 87 percent would forego something for a year in order to have a nice smile for the rest of their life” (The Dental Assistant 46). Sounds pretty important, right?
